Two Wins Away From World Cup

Pakistan are often described by cricketing experts around the world as a mercurial side, and in the 2009 ICC World Twenty20 tournament the men in green have shown just why they have that reputation.

In the warm-up games prior to the start of the tournament, Pakistan lost heavily to South Africa and India, before suffering a comprehensive defeat to England, which put Pakistan on the back foot as a slip-up against the Netherlands would have seen Younus Khan's men out of the tournament. Fortunately for Pakistan that did not happen they were able to engineer a comfortable victory and seal their place in the Super Eights.

In their first Super Eight game against Sri Lanka, Pakistan fell short by 19 runs before convincing victories against a depleted New Zealand team at the weekend and against Ireland, have enabled Pakistan to book their place in the semi-finals.
